Scottish Canals has been celebrated once more by the National Transport Trust with the award of another `Red Wheel'. Red Wheels are awarded by the National Transport Trust, whose Transport Heritage programme commemorates Britain's rich and globally important legacy in the development of transport. The most significant of these are marked by a National Transport Trust Heritage Plaque or `Red Wheel'. The Kelvin Aqueduct, on the Forth & Clyde Canal, was recognised with the historical award from National Transport Trust Vice President John Cameron CBE who unveiled the plaque alongside Scottish Canals' Heritage Manager Chris O'Connell. This is the Forth and Clyde Canal’s first Red Wheel, with others on the Union, Crinan, and Caledonian canals. Find out more about the National Transport Trust here.
