Almond Valley Heritage Centre

The fields, woods and green spaces of the Almond Valley site extend for nearly a mile either side of the river Almond. At its heart lies the old buildings of Livingston Mill and the nearby Mill Farm which is home to all manner of friendly animals. There's a big variety of unique and imaginative play spaces set among the meadows and woodland, with loads to see and do, no matter the weather.Â
They also have an indoor soft play beside a wonderful tearoom, and the shale oil museum with fascinating interactive displays. It’s a brilliant day out for all the family.

There are a limited number of blue badge parking spaces at the entrance to the main building, and there is level access into the main reception building through doors that are 900mm wide. All other buildings on site are on a single level and are fully accessible, other than a small cellar in the watermill, most of which can be viewed from outside. There are no steps in any of the main circulation routes around the site, although there is a modest slope in front of the mill buildings. All pathways are hard surfaced, or have a rolled-stone finish.

The centre features a café where visitors can enjoy a selection of hot and cold beverages, snacks, and light meals. The café offers both indoor and outdoor seating areas with beautiful views of the surrounding countryside.
