Scottish Canals details closures in respect for Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II
In line with national guidance and as a mark of respect, Scottish Canals will close on Monday 19 September for Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II State Funeral.
Our waterways will remain open for public use such as paddling and cycling, and boating customers may continue to navigate locally; however to allow all our staff and volunteers to share in this important national event, locks and bridges which require manual operation will not be in use and our visitor centres will be closed.
All premises will reopen, and services will resume as normal on Tuesday 20 September.
Kelvin Aqueduct Repair Plan and Reopening Date Announced
Scottish Canals is conducting a major programme of investigation, design and repairs on the historic Kelvin Aqueduct in Maryhill, Glasgow, together with contractor Mackenzie Construction. Repair work has now begun and this section of the canal will reopen on 1st March 2027.
